Hood looks nice but overall poor build quality. This hood was installed by our home builder in 2021. In 2024, we contacted ge because the blower fan gave out. After a discussion, they finally came out to replace it without charge. It's been 2 years and the fan went out again. This time, they aren't standing behind their defective product. If you look at the reviews for the replacement fan before purchasing this model, users are complaining of the same. Don't waste your money on this model because it will fail and then ge's "GE cares" site will not help you and will want you to pay for the replacement of its defective parts. Look to other more reputable brands that will stand behind their products or support you if they sell you a defective one.

Tricky Lightbulbs

I don't have much experience with cooktop hoods, but this model seem fine. The only thing frustrating is trying to change out the lightbulbs and to find replacement lightbulbs that don't cost an arm and a leg. GE sells replacement lightbulbs for this unit, but the got horrible reviews, so I am hesitant to spend that much for a lightbulb that doesn't last.

Needed a good with strong air flow and this thing really does the job. The control function is easy to use. The noise level is minimal. It also looks sleek. I put the bottom screws for the vent cover on lastly as it give it a nicer look.

After very minimal use of a year this motor stop working, talked to GE only to find out it only had a year of warranty. We have to purchase a new motor and installed it. Instruction process is very poor and bad designed. Simply GE doesn™™t make good quality products and this is why they only warranty it for only a year. Very disappointing

Very nice product. Installation instructions are very clear. If you have a low ceiling, 9ft or less, you will need to modify the Recirculation duct to install the chimney correctly if you set the hood 30" or higher above the range. Not a big deal just an FYI.

Purchased the hood with the understanding that the flue would fit up to 9-ft ceiling. The flue was way too short and required an additional $160 stainless steel extension flue - which was a special order. Needed to order this 3 times as it came in bent beyond use. The 3rd time it was still bent, but I was able to cut off the bent end and make it fit and not be seen. I even called GE directly and they could not guarantee they could do better...I think GE needs a new packaging and shipping consultant. Would have given 5 stars if this situation was corrected.

We installed our GE vent hood, Model #JVW5301SJSS, between two cabinets with about a 5" gap on each side. I noticed that it blows hot air down into the stove from the sides. Should it be blowing hot air in this manner while I™™m cooking? How can I get a GE technician to ensure it was installed correctly? I can't take the heat on my face while I am cooking. Should I place something on the sides to block air from coming down?
